AMBASSADOR PETER W. GALBRAITH

Ambassador to Croatia from 1993 to 1998. His other senior government positions include being Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Afghanistan in 2009 and a Cabinet Member in East Timor’s first Transitional Government in 2000-2001. He is the author of two critically acclaimed books on the Iraq War and its consequences. Since January 2011, Galbraith has represented Windham County in the Vermont Senate.

Peter W. Galbraith is one of America’s most experienced negotiators. As U.S. Ambassador to Croatia, Galbraith mediated the Erdut Agreement that ended the Croatia War in 1995 and participated in all the negotiations leading to the 1995 Dayton Agreement that ended the Bosnia War. As East Timor’s negotiator over maritime boundaries with Australia, he negotiated two treaties that quadrupled East Timor’s share of hydrocarbons in the Timor Sea. He is currently the principal of the Windham Resources Group that provides negotiating and strategic services to governmental and corporate clients.
